Legal
Terms for your PayPal account.
These terms cover the account you use to send money, request a payment, and pay online. If you do not agree, do not open an account.
The rule that matters
Money moves when you confirm.
Check the name, the amount, and any fee first. Closing the screen before you confirm does not send the payment.
The account
PayPal gives you a balance and an activity list. You must use your own identity. You are responsible for keeping your password private.
Payments
A request does not take money until the other person pays it. A checkout payment uses the balance only after you confirm the seller and the total.
Fees
Any fee is shown before you confirm. The number that leaves the balance is the number on that screen.
Acceptable use
Do not use the account for fraud, for someone else’s identity, or to pay for something illegal.
Problems
If a payment looks wrong, tell us from Help as soon as you see it. We review what you send and reply to the email on the account.
Closing
You can ask us to close the account. We can limit it if we believe it is being misused. A remaining balance is handled with you before closure when the law allows.
